Great St. John's Wort

Hypericum calycinum

Description:

Flowers display 5 yellow petals and many stamen at least 2 in. long! Leaves are simple, opposite and with pinnate venation.

Habitat:

It forms terrific leafy ground cover in sunny locations around a local elementary school parking lot.

Notes:

Blooms are impressively fuzzy looking because of all the long stamen.

Thank you Maria. gatorfellows, I appreciate the suggestion and will research that. It's the largest St. John's wort I have ever seen. I thought that was just a small weedy/medicinal plant.
