White Throated Kingfisher

Halcyon smyrnensis

This flashy kingfisher spent time in the trees. my pictures of the bird in the tree are better but too large to upload. The bird has bright blue secondary feathers a bright red bill and a white throat. Gorgeous bird that seemed to love to pose

all of India and southern Asia. from Turkey to the Phillipines. It can live away from water as it eats almost any prey that fits its size.
