Eriovixia laglaizei
Araneidae; Eriovixia laglaizei Simon, 1877. This spider is almost impossible to describe as it appears in an enormous number of different colours, patterns and even textures. A variety of these different forms may be viewed at;- http://natureloveyou.sg/Minibeast-Spider...
This Tailed Garden Spider was spotted on a Fragrant Premna (Premna odorata) in our back garden. I saw it when I was taking a picture of a Phintella sp. on the same plant. I assumed that the Tailed Garden Spider descended from the overhanging branches of a Mahogany tree because almost all of the spiders of this species that I have seen over the years have come from this group of Mahogany Trees in our back yard. They regularly spin webs which span from the lower branches of the trees to the roof of our back porch.
