Description:

Duranta is a genus of flowering plants in the verbena family. They are commonly cultivated as hedges and ornamental plants. Here they are long blooming in the summer, but not fully winter hardy. They will freeze back to the ground. They can be kept in containers and overwintered in shelter for a earlier bloom. The blooms are attractive to butterflies.

Thank you; I first saw them at the Dallas Arboretum and just had to have one. the name fits the bloom.
