Codium fragile tomentosoides
This alga, an invasive type of seaweed also known as dead man’s fingers, lives in the inter-tidal zone of the Atlantic Ocean on the US Southeastern seabord. A clump of this alga is all one cell and the plant can regenerate to repair injuries. In the past, this seaweed was used as packing material for the shipping of live marine invertebrates.
