Dark-spotted Auger

Oxymeris areolata

Also referred to as Terebra areolata, this species of auger snail grows to a maximum length of 18cm. Its shell is white with brown squarish patches.

Habitat:

This species is distributed in the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean, South Africa, and in the Pacific Ocean.

Notes:

This shell was sans its inhabitant when I spotted it. I hope I get to see a living specimen on future dives.
