Cabbage White

Pieris rapae

Description:

Perhaps one of the most common butterfly species in North America, the Cabbage White, Pieris rapae, is actually an introduced species, which causes damage to many crops including cabbage, kale, radish, broccoli, and horseradish. I was amazed I could find one which would cooperate with me! I love the pale-yellow color on the hindwing!

Habitat:

Feeds on, and commonly damages crops of cabbage, kale, radish, broccoli, and horseradish.
