Definitely Leptodeira sp., probably Leptodeira annulata, http://darnis.inbio.ac.cr/ubisen/FMPro?-...

Nope, not a Fer de Lance :) I'm fairly positive it's one of the Cat-eyed snakes

Yes Jemma, very similar, that is a Cat eye right?

Thank you so much, AshleyT. I am not any good at snake species... : (
It is not a Fur de lance right?! They are so common here and the coloring is similar?!

That is the species I was leaning towards, but they are all pretty variable and I couldn't find a site that site what the key characteristics were for this specific species. I think it's fine to go ahead and put it as that if you're confident about it, I'm pretty confident about it, but I would have Scott take a look at it. He was just online but not anymore, may be back soon though!

Thank you, Jemma.

The more I learn about snakes of Costa Rica, the more I think it is a Cat-eyed Snake (Leptodeira annulata) but I will not edit without some expert help. What do you think, AshleyT?

Could be a sub species of Gopher.

Yes that one "Cat eyed" came to mind also but could not find pictures to compared...?!

Pretty sure it's a Cat-eyed Snake, Genus Leptodeira, but I'm not familiar enough with them to nail down a species for you. Scott may be able to help further.
