Stemonitis 4845

Stemonitis 4845

Description:

A gathered cluster of long fuzzy brown sporangia. Approximately 25mm long.

Habitat:

Underneath a large rotting eucalyptus log lying across a creek.

Notes:

Small black spheres in pic 2 are part of this. Interestingly there is also one orange-brown sphere on a shaft next to this slime mold. Maybe a spiders eggs (as in http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/110... ). Here is a good shot of the plasmodium beginning its changing phase to become the standing form.... http://www.environment.gov.au/biodiversi...

You're right martinl. Very similar. I didn't want to focus on that though as some bully ranger might tell me to make a second spotting. :-)

Your orange-brown sphere reminds me of this spider egg http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/110...

Sorry to disappoint Maria. I would love to find a bat. None around here in winter though.

Interesting! (Looking at the thumbnail, I thought it was a bat!)
