Erythemis simplicicollis

Description:

Sexually dimorphic (adult male has a blue abdomen with a green face and green and blue thorax). Range is eastern North America, the Great Plains (except extreme north), south to Texas, and spotty distribution in Arizona and New Mexico. Habitat is primarily ponds. Adults often perch on the ground, and are quite unwary (as depicted here).

Habitat:

Found on forest path, Lake Springfield Park.
