Description:

Elongated fish 24 - 72 in. long with heavily armored body. Elongated jaws are filled with long, sharp teeth.

Habitat:

Rivers and lakes throughout eastern U. S.

Notes:

Native Americans used gar scales as arrowhead. Caribbeans used the slin for breastplates and early pioneers coveredtheir plows with gar skin.
