Ornamental allium

Allium sp.

Description:

A ball of flute purple blossoms. The ball is about 4-5 inches wide and above 2.5-3 feet of the ground. Long thin on width and think on touch leaves starting from the ground.

Habitat:

Suburban garden, temperate zone

Notes:

I have been wondering if this is a spice or an herb of some type.

My guess would be chives, but definitely an allium.
