Black-Faced Solitaire

Myadestes melanops

Description:

Edemic to the highlands of Costa Rica and Western Panama, the Black-Faced Solitaire generally builds a cup nest in a tree crevice, as seen above. The black face and chin contrast sharply with the orange bill, making it easy to identify. The song is a beautiful flute-like whistle that echoes through the forest, making it prized in the caged bird trade.

Habitat:

Cloud Forest

Notes:

This parent was incubating eggs.
