It looks like shadow to me. No tails? Nice spotting!

Tamar, I think you are right, it does have tails! We only have 2 species of tailed skippers here in TN, the long-tailed & the Dorantes skipper, so this must be the Dorantes!

On that right wing, in picture one, you can see some light marking on the hindwing I think. Also, is that a bit of a tail on the right wing? It is difficult for me to tell.
