Aggressive Ant Posturing

Description:

This large black and gold ant is a solitary hunter. She felt threatened by my camera and assumed an aggressive stance with the legs wide-spread, the tip of the abdomen curled forward and the mandibles wide open. She has very small, rather simple eyes.

Habitat:

On the ground, rocks and low roots. Chorreadero Park, Chiapa de Corzo, Chiapas.
