Northern Flicker (Yellow-shafted)

Colaptes auratus

Description:

This guy has been very reluctant to have his photograph taken. For months now I've been watching the white patch on his rump glide off into the forest or out of range of my lens. It was almost as if he was taunting me. But finally on Saturday Jul 14th I was able to track him down and get a few good shots of him.

Habitat:

Deciduous Forest, Grasslands, Rural.
