Isometrus maculatus
Scorpiones; Buthidae; Isometrus maculatus (De Geer, 1778). This is a small scorpion, predominantly brown in colour, but with numerous yellowish markings. It is the same species as the one I showed in https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/34..., but this one must be a juvenile. I don't know how to judge the age of a scorpion, but it is extremely small, only about one fourth the size of my previous spotting.
I spotted this tiny scorpion on a rock in the corner of our back yard.
When I took the first two photos, it did not move and I wanted to picture it in different positions. So I touched it with a grass leaf and it moved a little and I got three more shots. Unfortunately, the last two pictures looked identical and I wanted more to choose from. So I touched it again and it decided enough was enough. It took off running at amazing speed and disappeared down between the rocks. So that was the end of our encounter.
