Weaver Ant

Oecophylla smaragdina

Description:

This is a Weaver Ants that I found on the large tree in my backyard. They are orange-red, and live in large group (colony). The size of each ant is about 7 mm in length.

Habitat:

- On the tree, or bushes.

Notes:

- Weaver Ants are social insects of the family Formicidae. They make nests in trees made of leaves stitched together using the silk produced by their larvae. In Malay, it's called 'Kerengga'.
