Spotting

Description:

Green moth that makes a whirring sound when in flight, sleeps during the day.

Habitat:

Semi tropic, moist. First one spotted at 7000 ft. altitude, second one found at 3000 ft. altitude.

Notes:

Is this a Green Sphinx (Tinostoma smaragditis) moth of the Sphingidae family? Information says it was thought to be extinct until it was rediscovered in 1998. This was the first one I saw. I recently saw another one on the outside of the house. I am waiting to see if this larva is a Green Sphinx or not.
