A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Megarhyssa atrata
A very patient subject for my photography, perhaps because she was so busy herself.
Spotted on a tree in northern Illinois USA.
In some of the corresponding shots, there is another wasp that was in close proximity to the darker one. Are they both Ichneumon Wasps, one male and one female?
Thanks everyone, and thanks for the identification! I just discovered this app but I'm looking forward to being part of this community.
This is an Inchneumonid wasp, and is looking for larvae to parasite inside the wood
