Description:

orange with creamy yellow and dark brown patches towards the tip of its forewings (front wings).small eye-spot on each wing.

Habitat:

Local grassy reserve.

Notes:

The butterflies rest among dead leaf litter, and thermo-regulate by tilting their wings to maximise or minimise exposure to the sun, depending on ambient temperatures. In very hot weather they rest on shady overhanging banks. The genus Heteronympha comprises of 8 species, all of which are endemic to Australia.
