These two species are very similar. The barn swallow has a narrow blue-black upper breast band that the welcome swallow lacks. This bird also appears to lack that band.

It looks like a Barn Swallow (Hirundo rustica) - but there is another very similar species in Australia, the Welcome Swallow (Hirundo neoxena) - have to do some research to see how to differentiate them.
