Description:

By far the largest puffball I've seen. It was slim to the touch.

Habitat:

Old growth forest near some aspen.

Notes:

Most of the puffball species are edible while they are still immature.

I recently cooked one of these to mix into spaghetti sauce. It was delicious. As long as the puffball is larger than a softball and at the right stage of growth there shouldn't be any confusion with an inedible lookalike.
