Description:

Polytypic species of brush-footed butterfly, common throughout much of the eastern US. In this case the subspecies has reddish spots underneath, the top of the wings have iridescent blue markings, and it lacks a large white band on forewings and hindwings.

Habitat:

Just out of the woods along the path at the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens, Kansas.
