Scimitar horned oryx

Description:

This species formerly was found throughout North Africa but is now extinct in the wild. Their numbers in the wild originally declined because of climatic changes; later, hunting for their horns wiped them out as free-living animals. Today, they are bred in captivity, which has rescued the species from total extinction.
