Pampas Grass

Description:

Very tall "Grass" forming large mounds of tough saw-toothed leaves which can be 3 to 9 feet long. In Autumn grows 1 to 3 foot silky panicles of white/silvery flowers. Pics were taken in spring, I will try to add flower pic in autumn.

Habitat:

This spec. In red clay soil in Cushing Mem. Park in Canton, Ga 30114. I also have seen many in Sanford, Fl.

Notes:

Usually grown as an isolated specimen, but I have seen large clumps of them growing wild in disturbed woods in Fl. Some people collect the flowers for dried winter arrangements.
