Description:

One of the evening brown butterflies, a group that ranges from Africa to Australia. Melanitis is a butterfly genus from the subfamily Satyrinae in the family Nymphalidae.

Habitat:

Spotted on vegetation along a survey transect in secondary coastal lowland mixed freshwater swamp forest/sago swamp forest.

Notes:

M. leda, M. amablis, M. constantia occur in Papua
