Roseate Tern

Sterna dougallii

Description:

Medium-sized tern with light gray wings, a tail longer than its wingtips, and a mostly black bill with a reddish base.

Habitat:

Coastal mudflat.

Notes:

Seen at Morgan Mudflats in South Amboy. This bird appears to be banded, with a green band on the right leg and a metal band on the left leg. The bird next to the Roseate Tern is a Common Tern.
