Buff Banded Rail

Gallirallus philipensis

Description:

The reason a young bird is fluffy is because there are no hooks on the feathers, the feathers are free. Wing feathers have hooks on the end of them that hold them together to make a sail. A sail that can then direct the air and create lift. So to fly, it is not freedom you need, it is control.
