Rosy Hyacinth Orchid

Dipodium roseum

Description:

A dark green, crimson red to blackish brown fleshy stem which grows to a height of up to 80cm but generally shorter. One plant can produce as many as 40 pink flowers with darker pink/purple spots. The hairy tongue of the flower is used for collecting pollen from insects.

Habitat:

localforest reserve , with a large eucalypt variety , gums and smaller shrubs and ferns.

Thanks Vinny ..i have been told this is one of our more "boring" orchids ...so had to make it shine , where i found it , there is no other pretty colours to be found.:)
