Description:

Succulent plant ~ 1 foot tall with spiked leaves with flower stalk ~ four feet tall topped by orange flowers.

Habitat:

Leeward side of semi-arid windward tropical insular ridge of mixed shrubland and grassland. Original ecosystem modified by long-term human presence.

Notes:

Spotted beside the upper stretch of the access road connecting a parking lot off of Kalanianaole Highway with the Makapuu Point light and nearby lookouts--near the southeasternmost point of Oahu.
