They are called Filbert Galls, produced by the larva of a gallfly.
Thanks Dan --There were 2 of them on one of my dads grape plants when i went to visit, it was strange enough that i figured it was worth taking a pic.
I have a spotting of this too. It's some type of Gall, but I haven't got an exact ID.
