Fragile forktail (female)

Ischnura posita

Description:

Spotted this dusky purplish damselfly with green eyes bending (perhaps laying her eggs?) and then catching a hopper for a snack. There was a male fragile forktail nearby--they are green and black. The males and females have similar eye color.

Habitat:

Spotted alongside the Nine Mile Run stream in a swampy meadow.
