White Grunt

Haemulon plumierii

Habitat:

Flat shallow reef near shore. depth about 15 ft.

Notes:

This Grunt has me a bit stumped. I thought the colors were unusual and that is what made take the picture. It was showing stunning iridescent purple lines and a dark purplish belly. I know many fish can color/pattern change. I'm thinking it is a White Grunt (Haemulon plumierii) but I haven't seen any reference pics with those color patterns. It doesn't seem to match any grunt reference photo I've come across. Photograph on this dive at this area were: Sailors Choice, Smallmouth, Bluestriped, and French Grunts. UPDATE: White Grunt
