Tradescantia spathacea
Hardy, ornamental foliage plant that grows in low clusters from fleshy rhizomes. Waxy, lance-shaped leaves are green above and purple below. Blooming of small white flowers in boat-shaped bracts is sporadic all year long. Native to Mexico, the pant is found across the tropics and considered invasive in south Florida.
Growing in a garden in the equatorial tropics of northern New Guinea.
