Spotted about 30 meters from edge of a salt marsh at Brooklyn's Marine Park.
I made Sumac tea, it wasn't quite as good as lemonade but it's very high in vitamin C.
The fruit is edible, with a lemon flavor, it can be used to make a "lemonade" or ground and used for spice or garnish.
