Katydid nymph and exuvia

Description:

This katydid has recently emerged and is waiting for its new stripey suit to harden. You can see its old skin left behind on the top side of the young leaf. The red/brown head and legs provide it with a good color match with the stems and leaf tips of its eucalyptus host.

Habitat:

On a eucalyptus sapling in a local habitat reserve
