Sassafras

Sassafras sp.

Notes:

Sassafras leaves and twigs are consumed by white-tailed deer in both summer and winter. We have tons of deer here at the park. It is also a host plant for spicebush swallowtail butterflies. I spotted them, but was unable to take a picture. Drat!
