Melanerpes Carolinus
9-10 1/2 inches long. Zebra backed with a Red cap which covers the crown and nape in Males. This must be a male.
Woodlands, Groves, Orchards and Towns.
On females the red only covers the nape of the neck and on Juveniles no red shows on head...only brown.

Nice Site. I am enjoying this. I love to take pictures but am lacking in professionally knowing exactly what I took a picture of sometimes.
