Aspen Leaf Miner

Phyllocnistis populiella

Description:

A beautiful pattern which only can be created by nature. I wonder if the caterpillar knows what it is making.

Thanks John! I have not seen something like this either. The more common ones are the ones on the black locusts where I live in NY.

I saw this this same damage last month in New York. It was also on quaking aspen, and I couldn't recall seeing a leaf miner with such a beautiful feeding pattern.
