Loxodonta africana
Chobe's elephants are among the largest, belonging to the kalahari strain. They often appear reddish due to mud bathing and rolling in the red soil of the park. As the park is well protected, it has the largest concentration of elephants. They are supported by the Chobe river, which creates a lush floodplain and plenty of available water.
You can see remnants of army camps in chobe and the park is well patrolled to prevent poaching. Because of this, you see hippos grazing 24 hours and they do not threaten approaching boats but rather look on with curiosity
