Megacyllene decora
I can't find much on this species, but here's what I have: Larvae bore in the stems of Amorpha fruticosa, the False Indigo, adults common on Goldenrod (Solidago spp.) in the fall. (information from BugGuide)
Natural wetland
This beetle was spotted on the trail at Oxley Nature Center.

A very good question, Emma. I'm still trying to find out more about the species, so I will certainly share if I find out anything. :-)
does it get it's yellow color from golden rod?
Thanks, Keith. I was having a great day on my hike before the beetle, and then when I saw it, my day got even better. This one was a first for me and I was thrilled.
Awesome spotting. I'd love to see such a beetle.
