No idea Martin. I thought the "steelblue" referred to the colour of the larvae -spitfires ?? I am yet to find easily available information on Australian sawflies. Looks like you've got a good reference source for these- might use it to check my spottings :)
Thanks Leuba. This specimen with a dot on the thorax is certainly the one described in your link http://lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au... That is called Perga dorsalis (steelblue sawfly) Why is the other one the blue one? Are they gender differences?
