Hello. Two subspecies of elk found in Washington state, the Roosevelt elk (Cervus canadensis roosevelti) and the Rocky Mountain elk (Cervus canadensis nelsoni). The Tule elk (Cervus canadensis nannodes) is a subspecies of elk found only in California. It might be safer just to label your spotting as "Elk". The scientific name of the species is Cervus canadensis. Please add this to your spotting in the space reserved for scientific name. This will then be automatically marked as "identified" in the Project Noah database. Thanks
