Perennial Peanut Plant

Arachis pintoi

Description:

Perennial or pinto peanut species and cultivars are low growing, about 8 inches (20 cm) high, non-twining, nitrogen-fixing legumes. The plants have four oval leaflets on each petiole and light to dark yellow, pea-like flowers. Varieties can differ slightly in leaf size, shape and color. The seed is an underground nut, one per pod, which is not edible.

Notes:

The Perennial Peanut makes an excellent ground cover in areas with well-drained soil and full sun.
