Strangler Fig

Description:

The strangler fig warps around the tree, using it as a base to get to the canopy or emergent layer in order to receive more sunlight and, as you can see from the pictures, the fig looks like it's strangling the tree (hence the name) and pretty soon, the fig is going to take all the nutrients away from the tree.

Habitat:

In the Secondary Rainforest in SAS.
