Ornate Butterflyfish/ kīkākapu

Description:

Frequently seen in pairs, these butterfly fish are beautiful to view. They are extremely shy. It feeds on the polyps of a variety of hard-coral species. When it bites at a coral colony, it can remove from 16 to 50 polyps in a single bite and may take up to three bites in the same region before moving on, this is a larger amount of polyps than most butterflyfish.
