Three-Toed Sloth

Bradypus variegatus

Description:

Although hard to be certain, I believe this spotting to be a Three-toed Sloth. It was high up in a tree, and impossible to approach closer. This species spends three-forths of the day sleeping in trees. They move very slowly, and come down to the ground generally only to defecate about once per week.

Habitat:

This animal was spotted in the upper Amazon rain forest, Pacaya Samiria Reserve.
