Ashy Prinia

P. s. stewartii

Description:

A cute yellowish brown, insectivorous bird that wags its tail while hopping around the garden and foliage.

Habitat:

Home gardens and yards, farmlands and open wooded areas.

Notes:

We hear them calling throughout the day between their quick visits. They can be easily distinguished by their longer tails wagging up and down in comparison to the white eyes, robins and the tailor birds. They do get into conflicting situations with the squirrels as they tend to share the crumbs, bits of nuts or small seeds like millets. During such instances one can distinctly feel and hear a whirring sound they make as they fly past.

Thank you, Jemma! Nowadays these birds are getting more familiar and tend to visit the garden frequently.
