An orb weaver spider. Also known as the writing spider. Black and yellow "mask" abdomen. Circular webs with zigzag signature. Female. Size: Very large at over 1.50 inches (38 mm) Female web can be up to 2 feet (60 cm) in diameter.
Meadows and fields. Range: Continental USA, Hawaii, Central America, Mexico and Canada.
